Brazil’s Solar Power Reaches 50 GW

9 December 2024

A new milestone in renewable energy development

Brazil has announced that it has reached 50 GW of installed solar power capacity. This result was made possible by the active development of both large solar stations and distributed generation, including rooftop installations and small commercial projects.

Solar energy already provides more than 10% of national generation, confirming its key role in the country’s energy balance. Brazil continues to lead Latin America in the pace of solar technology implementation, which is due to government support programs and favorable natural conditions.

However, experts note the need for further modernization of power grids to integrate growing volumes of renewable energy sources and ensure their sustainable use.
