Largest Solar Power Plant in Egypt

Current Status

Amea Power has completed the 500 MW Abydos solar power plant in Aswan Governorate. The project was completed in 18 months and is capable of generating 1,500 GWh of electricity annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 782,300 tons per year.

Funding and Plans

The project is supported by IFC, FMO and JICA. The electricity will be sold to Egypt Electricity Transmission Company under a 25-year contract.

Future Developments

Amea Power is also planning a 500 MW wind farm and battery storage systems.
