EU to Miss Hydrogen Targets — ACER

Problems with hydrogen strategy implementation

According to a report by the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER), the European Union will not be able to achieve its ambitious targets for the development of hydrogen energy. The planned figures, including the production of 10 million tons of clean hydrogen by 2030, are considered unrealistic due to a lack of investment, infrastructure and resources.

The main obstacles remain the difficulty of transporting hydrogen, high production costs and the lack of necessary infrastructure for storage and distribution. Experts note that without significant financial support and clearer coordination between EU member states, the hydrogen strategy may remain only at the level of statements.
