Prospects for sustainable lithium mining in Europe

Vulcan Energy Resources has announced the launch of a lithium mining pilot plant in the Rhine Valley, Germany. The project is based on lithium extraction technology from geothermal brines, which minimizes the carbon footprint and reduces the environmental impact.

The pilot plant will be an important step in developing a sustainable supply chain for the battery industry in Europe. The lithium extracted in this way is planned to be used in the production of batteries for electric vehicles, which is in line with the EU’s strategic goals to reduce dependence on imported raw materials.
